Organiser: Living Cultural Heritage Network
The example of the M.EL.O.S. project
We will present how the expertise developed for the Greek Musical Audiovisual Collections (such as the archives of V. Tsitsanis, M. Theodorakis and the Greek double-bass archive) can address the everyday needs of local associations, societies and oral-history groups that place the community's lived experience at the centre — and we will share our experience in managing complex data through collaborative networks.
Our aim is to show how the "fragments of memory" —photographs, recordings, costumes and oral testimonies— scattered across collections can be brought together into a shared digital network:
- Autonomy: each association remains the sole owner of its material.
- Interconnection: items "converse" with one another when they relate to the same place or the same event.
- Openness: the archive becomes a living tool for education and local development.
The philosophy of "Syn-Topos" serves exactly this: creating a shared digital home that respects the particularity of each organisation while bringing out the "whole" of our cultural heritage. We would be glad to discuss with the organisations' representatives how technology can become the invisible assistant in their work.
